BUND RALLY SPARKS FIREWORKS IN NYC
Madison Square Garden, New York — More than 20,000 souls packed the Garden on February 20th for a “Pro-American Rally” organized by the German American Bund.
Swastikas and Stars & Stripes both flew high; portraits of George Washington flanked with Nazi symbols drew both outrage and curiosity.
Mayor Fiorello La Guardia and civic leaders were on the warpath, decrying the spectacle.
Outside, thousands protested with flyers, speeches and slogans condemning the Bund’s anti-Jewish, pro-Hitler bent.
Many New Yorkers voiced resolve that such extremism has no place in the City That Never Sleeps.
